The Grass Doctor

How do I make my lawn grow more vigorously?

I have areated and put lime and fertilizer but the grass blades are fine and short. I live in NC and this puny grass doesnt seem to be strong enough when hot weather hits, about one forth always dies. Thank you for your advice.

  1. 1 part urine to 5 parts liquid ass(real product) to 10 parts lime juice per 10 foot squared area.
  2. Try reseeding with a hardy grass.
  3. Try dethatching & areating it.
  4. If you’re extremely serious about this. Aerate they ground then top fill with sand. Meaning you fill the holes with sand. This is done buy spreading sand over the ground then using a heavy broom and a sweeping motion you sweep the yard clean. This way all the sand should go in the holes. What this does is make’s for a great medium for new root growth. Golf courses due this to the putting greens. But before you get this fire you will want to mow your yard right after you aerate it to grind all those doggy looking turds the aerator left. Warning this is hard on blades either use old blades or rent a mower. Ok after you have done the above steps. Apply a fine over seeding of annual rye grass. This will do two things 1 it will make for a fast thick yard the first summer. And second it will add nitrogen for the following year. Ideally you should do this for at least 5 years straight. Then every other year would be fine. This will give you a yard every neighbor would be envy of.
  5. Unfortunately for me .. the only thing that worked was an annoying gopher that put big holes in my lawn. I filled the holes with good dirt, and my grass came back really thick and beautiful..who knew??!! LOL Good Luck.. You can borrow my gopher if you want..
