Is it okay to apply lime to an acid-soil lawn during winter when grass is dormit?

  2. Yes it is a good time. The freezing an thawing helps to work it into the ground. One thing that is important is to not have any leaves on the ground. The lime sticks to them and doesn't get into the ground. You have a choice of powdered lime or granular. The powdered works fastest but can be tracked into the house.
  3. The powdered is much faster acting, better to use in the spring. The granular breaks down much slower, best to use in the fall, otherwise it's effect won't be reached in time.
