How soon after hydroseeding can I use a 2-4D weedkiller?
We were told to wait 2 months after hydroseeding before we use a 2-4D weed killer (either 2-4D or Scott's Weed n' Feed +2), but i'm at the 1 month mark and I've got goatheads and other weeds coming up that are very tough to get rid of. Will I hurt my lawn by using a 2-4D product this early on?

- 2 weeks
- Any new lawn is a minimum 8 week waiting period. Usually the best gauge is to wait until the grass grows to 4" and cut it...repeat three more times and then you can fertilize. Most seed germinates pretty quick, but the shoots are tender and will be susceptible to any poisons. The original "mix" in the hydro-seeder should have included a % of starter fertilizer in it. Call your landscaper and ask what that mix was. That should be sufficient to get things going. Also, if you get heavy storms, you may need to reseed some areas. Alot time for that too.
- we were there and can do after 4 mowings .use weed be gone .kills weeds not grass . do when wind is calm or could hurt trees and shrubs. also furtilizing helps detureing weeds.
