Growing a new lawn from seed?

Okay i wanted to make sure I seeded and did everything in order to my lawn. First I turned over the old lawn with a shovel then i broke up all the big clumps and raked it out and leveled it. I then put down scotts grubex once i have grubs and i also put down the scotts kentucky bluegrass seed with it. Then i put about a half inch layer of decent cheap top soil over the the seeds and grubex then i put scotts starter fertilizer over the top soil and watered it. Did i do everything right?

  1. You did more than what I did when I did mine. So your results should be better then mine.
  2. sounds like it
  3. I know i cost more, but id buy sod. Seed is soooooo temper-mental, out here in Omaha Neb. sod is about 3 dollars a roll. Sod takes to the dirt more easily too. Just water frequently and your good to go.
  4. stop using those chemical fertilizers use all natural and organic. chemical fertilizers kill worms and bugs that are essential to a healthy lawn and the more you use them the more your lawn will depend on them and you will find yourself fertilizing many times a year and if you dont your lawn will die until the nutrients naturally build up in the soil again.
