  1. The secret formula is to mix your dry fertilizer with a four pounds of Epsom salts (which make the lawn green) and a pound of confectioners sugar (which gives the plants energy). Plants need sugar and starch, typically they produce their own via photosynthesis, however you've just provided the materials without the work. Use a rotary spreader set to half your fertilizer's recommended settings. Spread before noon in both the fall and spring.
  2. so it would be blue then so i suppose you could try painting it green. Otherwise, water it
  3. sprinkle lime on your lawn.
  4. green food coloring?!?!?!
  5. Water it. Daily. Make sure you do it either in the morning or evening, though, not during the heat of the day.
  6. i've heard of not cutting it to allful short. the shorter it is the less green you'll have. let it have a little lenght.
  7. i live in western PA and i have kentucky blue too. one time we left the sprinkler on all night and the grass around it was supper green and grew supper fast for weeks. however, i think i want to try that sugar and salt idea. it sounds like it would work
  8. Hank Hill can tell you!King of the Hill! also ,get some manure from the amish.make sure its old so it doesn't stink!
  9. When I was a child, it was common practice for people to burn their dead lawns just prior to Springtime. Apparently most fertilizers deplete carbon from the soil and this practice would return it. I can't really remember if it worked for them as i was only a child and didn't pay much attention to lawncare :P But, I have upon occasion, burned piles of weeds and brush in my backyard in the fall or winter. And, the next growing season I have been rewarded with VERY lush growth where the fire had been. You might try, the next time you fertilize, to crush up some charcoal briquets and add this to your spreader. I'm not sure how much you should use so you'll need to experiment by using different concentrations in various areas of the lawn. Hope this helps P.S: I wouldn't try adding sugar to your lawn as it will attract insects, namely ants...
  10. ammonium sulfate will get your grass so green you will have to put blinders on just to look at it. Right now is a perfect time to do it before summer months come and get hot. Well that is how it is here in California but I dont know for you. You can find it at any nursery or fertilizer store. Find out what Zone you are in.
