In Southern California, what kind of grass should I plant to have a green lawn year round?
I'm going to put in a new front lawn, there are no trees for shade. I live in the San Fernando Valley, which is very hot and dry in the summer and where grass can grow all year round. I'm going to insall a sprinkler system, and can either plant seed or lay sod. Don't want a brown or yellow lawn in the winter. Is this feasable?

- Mix Kentucky Blue grass and Fescue ( I am spelling fescue wrong but it si pronounced like resuce)
- marathon sod!!!! it's a bit pricey, but well worth it. i installed mine over 7 years ago and it's still the greenest on the block!!! it will stay green all year round if you take care of it. water is plenty and put seed every 6-7 months just to keep it healty! good luck!
- Years ago we lived in southern California. I remember my dad use to grow clover as our lawn covering. It is soft, hardy, green even in dry weather and hardly, if ever, needs mowing.
- Zoysia Grass. Go online to the website below. We are thinking about getting this type of grass. Supposedly people in Arizona etc have planted it and it thrives there. It comes in plugs.
