What is the best way to get rid of moles in lawns?

I am a landscaper and some of my customers are wanting to get rid of moles who are absolutely tearing away at their lawn. What is usually the best way to get rid of them?? Thanks for your answers!

  1. I have a German Shepherd, works for me!!
  2. Gas the little buggers! Google search pest control moles and you will get your answer!
  3. To quote Jasper Carrot ; There's only one way to get rid of a mole; BLOW IT'S BLOODY HEAD ORF!
  4. Increase your gnomage. We intimidate the little bleeders.
  5. You can buy pellets from your local garden centre, otherwise you could get a spycatcher!!!

  7. according to Jasper Carrot. you need variouse, smoke bombs ,windmills. 1 revolving office chair A shotgun 2 friendly police officers it dosn`t solve the mole problem but after hearing this `joke` they will realise how difficult it his to get rid of moles. to be serious a little known method is to put cat droppings in the runs.the moles know the smell of predators and move on. hope this helps.listen to `the mole`lol
  8. I use two methods. One is to dump kitty litter (used) into tho hole. Works pretty good. The other is to stick a garden hose in the highest hole and just let it run water into the tunnels. Also works pretty good. Since you are a professional and can't count on a kitty litter box or angle of the ground you may have to poison them.
  9. Get rid of their food...ie grubs
  10. All the stuff that you can buy such as gas, vibration, and what have you does not work. Treating for grubs is not the answer either because moles will be after the earthworms also, which are good for the lawn/soil. You need to use the spring loaded harpoon traps. You will need at least 4-5 of them. You need to find an active run, which is the favorite tunnel that the mole uses. To do this, go out in the lawn and look for a tunnel that has branches (other tunnels) leading from it. Once you have found it, lightly step down on a few feet of it. The next day go out and look to see if the tunnel has popped back up. This would indicate that the mole is using it as an active run. Next off you will need to set the traps. To do this, go to the active run and again lightly step down on about a foot of it. Set your first trap on top of that. You must work the trap up and down a few times so that when the mole sets it off, it does not get hung up in the soil. Set a few more traps in the main run and in the branches. It might take a time or two doing this, but you will get the mole. Good luck.
  11. The art and skill of the mole catchers is one of the trades that is dying fast, if you can`t find one your local hardware shop should stock mole traps but it isn`t easy. good luck.
  12. This is the time of year that the little beggars get very active, they are everywhere! The thing that has worked best for me is firelighters - unlit of course. Just put a few in the runs and they hate it. The smell of the firelighters last much longer than other 'smelly' methods.
  13. I have the answer to this one....It's simple but very effective. You need a piece of board about 4'x6' a tin of black gloss paint. Write on the board ' NO MOLES' They'll get the message very quickly :-)
