The Grass Doctor

What are some reasons why it might be better to eliminate having green lawns in our yards...?

and just have permanent rock gardens, or lots of bushes, or weeds? Might it not collectively save our society time, money, and effort we could use on more important things??

  1. That's a bad idea.
  2. Foliage converts carbon dioxide to oxygen. I tend to think this is a very good thing.
  3. umm no! we have to have green foliage to reduce carbon monxide and increase oxygen or we die!
  4. Yep, alot of wasted time and effort goes into maintaining yards. competing with the Jone's never pays off, its what you want to do ultimately that really matters.
  5. Well for one it is less time spent on personal time and you could invest your time in doing something more productive around the house or something fun. Second of all you won't have to buy a lawnmower. Those cost money for time and maintenance. Did I mention that gas costs money for lawnmowers as well?
  6. A good one would be water conservation. It would also save you some time not having to use a lawn mower which would conserve oil consumption.
  7. Water conservation is the only benefit to not maintaining lush grassy lawns. Although out in the western part of the United States a vast majority of people do use a southwestern theme when landscaping their yards. They use very resilient bushes that are low maintanance and various types of wooden planks and railroad boards that are quite attractive and require almost no regular care.
  8. I was out in the Bremerton, Washington area a few years ago visiting an old shipmate. His WHOLE housing area had no grass lawns. EVERY house had PEBBLES...front and back...taken from the Puget Sound. Only 'greenery' was a couple of round mini-gardens in the front and the back. WEIRD. But that's the west coast for ya.
  9. Leave my grass alone.
