How can I maintain a green lawn?

My lawn is coming around and gettin green fro the spring. I have been watering it more frequently than before. But as the grass has been growing I have noticed bare spots. I have overseeded and fertilized it but yet no signs of improvement. Any ideas on how to fix this and maintain the grass as green as can be?

1. Try food coloring... you never know.
2. that could be for a number of reasons, maybe there is rock under the sod, or over fertilizing the ground and burning out the grass. Maybe there are some tree roots that are sucking the water. Trees may be shading the area and it's not getting enough sun.
3. Green spray paint. You're kidding, right?
4. It depends on where the bare spots are, and what is causing them. If you have a dog, it can be caused by urine, in this case, keeping the dog off the lawn, is the only cure. But if this is not the case, you may need to remove the dead growth from the bare spots, place good topsoil on these spots and reseed. Using a quick growing seed for that particular area, eg: Sunny, shady, etc.. If it is a heavy traffic area, you may consider a grass seed designed for park like settings.. also you may watch how much you water it. You can over water your lawn too, Hope this helps.
5. You might wanna bite the bullet and get a pro out there, I recommend Weedman lawmcare. If you have been doin it yourself and getting nowhere, it might be time to get a pro. There are so many variables for bare spots.
6. Nitrogen, that's all it takes. If you want a green lawn fast you need warm moist soil and nitrogen fertilizer. Follow the directions for the application!
