if your lawn care service or landscaper used a regular size truck instead of a large truck what should think?
noticed most landscape companies have large trucks..and was wondering what most would think of just a regular sized truck.being used to haul mulch etc..and would most think they had hired the wrong company then? why so? and how depends? are most large companies charging much more than the smaller companies ? or how competitive they are? and how and why? please epxlain what you can. thanks for your answers!

- It is more efficient to have the larger truck if you are doing larger scale jobs. Too much time and money running back and forth getting equipment and supplies. Your profit margin goes down the drain with inefficiency. Companies getting started don't have the capital to put into inventory, hence the smaller truck. If you want to get bigger or make a livable wage, you'll need to up your prices, hire extra workers and invest in inventory............but it takes time. So would depend on what I'm hiring the company to do..........just mow, a truck will do, maybe pulling a trailer. When I start asking for shrub trimming, flower bed maintenance, sprinkler maintenance, I expect to see something larger. With the equipment on hand, the job will get done quicker.
- It depends upon the size of the job. I would think that an operation with larger trucks have more resources such as people and equipment to do large scale jobs. If you have a small area (maybe 1/2 acre or less), a smaller operation would suffice. Some of these smaller operations are one owner, one or two, maybe three helpers. Lower overhead as they probably operate out of their home. If you had a large land area, a larger operation has fixed costs that would be spread over several acres of land. A larger operation can do a large job in probably one day. A small operation may take days to complete the work, netting a zero gain by going cheap. However, a small plot of land would be better served by a small operation as the time to complete the job would probably be one day.
- most large companies use both. if a pick up will do the job, no need for the extra expense to run a larger truck. sometimes the large truck may be on another job and they have to send the smaller one to do the job. the size of the truck means nothing as to the quality of work being performed. if a pickup load of mulch will do, why send the big truck. some even use the trailer to haul such. don't worry about the size truck that pulls up, just the quality of work.
- These 3 are all good answers - but your questions this morning have me wondering? Are you planning to start your own operation? Do you enjoy critiquing landscapers? Are you bored? Have a good one!
- as long as he does a good job at a fair price and you are happy, what difference could the size of his truck make? if you are satisfied with everything, you would not care if he rode in on a donkey.
