Our lawn in Georgia is terrible. What is the right grass for deep shade?
We have a lot of tall trees in the front and only some sunlight in the morning. Basically it is all dirt at this point. We plan on putting in topsoil with lime, but not sure what is the right kind of grass. Our back gets sun during the peak of the day.

- There is no grass that will grow under those conditions but many ground covers will. Some you might want to consider are(all are perennials): periwinkle: http://pazgrowers.com/images/VincaMinorCloseup.jpg sweetwood rufff: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ale5rv8V0ZI/SYX9nq3qEAI/AAAAAAAADS4/wqe5Q1ZAQXA/s400/051108.JPG pachysandra: http://plantfinder.sunset.com/images/pachysandra-138-m.jpg ajuga: http://www.ajuga.org/images/Ajuga%20reptans%201.jpg You might want to add some deep shade loving perennials like ferns, bleeding hearts, lilies of the valley, and hydrangeas. You can add some dogwoods too, they naturally grow under the forest canopy. Use topsoil with acid, all of these plants are acid lovers.
- you could always try an artificial grass.
