Which type of grass should I plant for a low maintenance lawn?

I just moved into a house in October and have not taken very good care of my lawn. I live in the Northern Virginia area, so I get all 4 seasons. I've looked into centipede grass, but it seems to be for warmer climates like Florida. My lawn has been neglected and has become weed infested. Which type of grass seed should I lay down? Thanks! I live on the border of zones 6B and 7A.

The mixture will be winter, summer, shade and sun type grasses and each type will flourish in the area of the yard it is suited for. Home Depot and Lowe's carry them all year around.
