How can you kill the weed grass but keeping the normal grass at the same time?

My front lawn is growing very thick grass, and its coving the rest of my good grass. I have thought about spraying Round Up on the thick wee grass, killing them, them shovel them off and then plant grass seed. The grass is growing back, but once again covered with weed grass. So is there something out there that kill the thick weed grass, but keeping the normal grass at the same time ? Much appreciated !

1. what kind of grass do you have? If it is Bermuda or Zosia, MSMA will kill the weeds but not the grass. Some other types of grass are killed by MSMA.
2. johny ur a ritard! shes got green grass noone knows the name of there lawn... exept me i named mine sally. but besides that ur best bet is to get some tweezers and pick out the weeds
3. Use so Ortho Weed and Feed. A granular product that you sprinkle onto your lawn. It contains a lawn fertilizer so the lawn you want gets fed, while the weeds die. It works really good, I have used it many times before. It comes in a bag and should be available at most home and garden centers.
4. The trouble with weed grass is that there's not an herbicide that harms it without harming your lawn. Crab grass (or weed grass) creates seed quickly so it needs to be dug up. 5. Yes its called: Scotts Turf Builder, It kills all weeds includeing dandelions, You put it on your grass wright after it rains it sticks to the weeds and kiill them out, every 6 weeks, After about the 3rd time your grass will look dark green, But if you want greener grass after the first builder is laid then just by Scotts Green Max
