The Grass Doctor

My power reel mower is causing brown spots on my grass. What am I doing wrong?

Hey Guys, I have a question. I recently purchased a reel mower for my bermuda lawn. However, when I cut, it causes brown areas of grass to be exposed. Am I cutting too short? I thought reel mowers were supposed to cut cleanly and prevent brown grass. Does my lawn just need to get used to being cut shorter? Kind of at a loss here. I want my lawn to be thick and greet like a fairway. Any thoughts?

  1. It's not likely your mower that is causing that. Sounds more like dog urine. Are there dogs that could be peeing in your yard? Another option is watering more as well throwing some nitrogen then watering like crazy (nitrogen will burn the grass if not watered in well).
