in pa if i start a lawn care service do i pay taxes?

Hi there, I was wondering in clinton county PA would I have to pay in taxes or have to pay any taxes if I start a lawn care service. I know I'll have to get a state i.d number I just dont know the legal issues involved in starting one. Thanks, KS

  1. Assuming you make over $400 a year from your business, you'll owe 13.3% self employment tax to the IRS this year, 15.3% other years. If you have other income also, you'll most likely owe it from the first dollar. Depending on how much you make, and your personal situation, you'll probably owe federal income tax.. You'll owe 3.07% for PA income tax. You'll owe a local income tax of 1% or more.
  2. And in addition to all the taxes Judy mentioned, if your borough or township has a mercantile tax, you'll have to pay that as well.
  3. of course, this is self employment reports on Sch C and probably Sch SE as well find them at www.irs.gov to see what you need to report
