Zoysia Grass: How to Care and make it spread faster?

I have Zoysia grass in my yard in one spot; its a fairly large patch; and it has been spreading - somewhat. It does well. Can anyone offer me general health care tips for this lawn (which is very nice looking) and tell me how to encourage it to spread? I'm a novice lawn care person, so please be clear (like don't just say put fertilizer around it, I don't know what month to do that in...). Thanks alot for any help
