What are ways to have a low maintence lawn, what is the best type of grass to plant?

Looking for a grass that is known to barely grow or items to use o the law to keep the grass from growing.

2. Grass is not the only ground cover. Ground ivy, carpet phlox, and certain types of moss make good low-maintenance lawns.
