The Grass Doctor

What is a good lawnmower on Amazon.com?

Hi. I need help buying a lawnmower. What brand it is most recommended. Should I choose a gasoline power one or electrical one. I ask since my father was the one that took care of the lawn. I know he used only a trimmer... but some research tells me that using only a trimmer is not a good idea on a kind of big lawn. Can you guys help me choose one on amazon since I currently don't have a license on this state. Any maintainace or tips to do the mowing job properly? Thanks.

  1. A little pricey but definitly worth it. I own this same model and I really love it. When you want it to mulch instead of bag it really does a great job. I have a fairly large corner lot and can do the entire yard on one tank of gas. The Briggs and Stratton engines are probably some of the best engines. They have been around for a long time and are easy to maintain and are very durable. They have a one pull feature that does for the most part start on the first or second pull. I pulled mine out after sitting all winter and it started on the first pull. Very easy to use and all around great mower. http://www.amazon.com/Toro-Recycler-Self-Propelled-Briggs-Stratton/dp/B003EA3KH8/ref=sr_1_10?s=garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1305059936&sr=1-10

  3. For tips on how to choose a lawn mower: http://www.tigerfdn.com/how-to-choose-lawn-mower For an unbiased recommendation, check out the latest Consumer Reports recommended lawn mowers. They tested 45 lawnmowers and rank them based on handling, even cutting, bagging, mulching and deck sizes. There are several categories including gas, electric, self-propelled, push, and riding mowers. That is where I would start (http://www.tigerfdn.com/consumer-reports-recommended-lawn-mowers). I don't know what your price range is. Toro dominates the self-propelled gas mower category, but they're quite pricey. In the push gas mower category, they recommend Husqvarna and Lawn Boy. For electric, Black & Decker is the way to go. Most of the top recommended mowers can be found on Amazon.
