How much to charge for mowing my neighbors lawns?

Okay, so I am hoping to make a Tron costume for next years halloween, and so for this summer and next summer I am going to mow my neighbors lawns, hopefully getting enough money for the Electroluminescent Wire. I was wondering how much should I charge for me to mow their front lawn?

  1. how big is the yard ? whos mower are you using ? do you need to buy gas to fill up the mower ? I would guess around $35. for a medium to large yard, providing mower and gas.
  2. i myself do the same job, to just mow there lawn its usually 10 dollars, edging is another 5 dollars , and if u put fertilizer and take out the weeds its usualyy 20 dollars , (only use about 2 handfuls of fertilizer,)
  3. It should work out to about $15/hr if you furnish your own mower, $10/hr if they furnish the mower. If you're giving a rate for the whole job, estimate how long it will take. Also, you could charge $5-$10 extra for edging, maybe suggesting that they might want to do that once/month, & the rest of the lawn every 2 wks. Anyway, you do have a bit of flexibility in making your estimate & offering extra services for more. It cost me $50 for 3 1/2 hrs work. Some of the wild grass (weeds) were up to chest high, but most of it was thigh high. She did a beautiful job & spent at least a half hr hand-pulling some of the weed around the roses. After this, I'm going to get a bale of hay to mulch the rose & to keep the weeds down & to make the soil softer in case I have to dig them up. Also, I won't have to water them so much. I'm hoping to get the mowing down to once a month for $15-$30 for the whole job. It's a pretty small lawn to me, tiny in front & medium in back.
