Best way and time to plant grass seed in shady area?
The house im renting has hardly any grass in the back yard, there are 2 trees blocking most of the sun, what kind of grass seed would be the best? when do I plant and also how long would it take to grow? Im in ohio

- look at any name brand that says deep shade
- In Georgia I recommend Turf type Tall Fescue to my customers.
- There are two ways to solve the issue - 1:) trim branches to allow more sun into the area 2:) use a shady seed in early spring and rake the seed in after applying the seed to allow good soil contact with the seed and to prevent birds from eating the seed.
- Right after your last frost. Rake up the area & loosen the soil. Then sow the seeds & water daily for about a week, gradually getting down to twice weekly if there's no rain. ~m~
