Should I buy a reel mower?
I am looking to make my bermuda lawn look like a golf course fairway this coming spring. I came across a guy who is selling a Mclane Reel mower for a really good price. Are gas powered reel mowers worth it? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

- If I were to have a manicurred bermuda lawn, I'd be mowing with a McLane reel mower. Enjoy all the work it takes to have that putting green:)
- A power propelled reel will have a cleaner cut and alleviate foot marks on established lawn. Grass catcher will avoid having to rake lawn so clippings wont cause much nitrogen burn. coarse sand spread on short lawn will make blades stand up through as well as providing drainage.
- The McLane is a good product that you would be happy with if that is your choice.... Don't know where you live and how long you've had the bermuda lawn. Would suggest before you purchase it that you contact your local agricultural extension office (through your state university) to find just how to maintain your lawn the way you would like.
- a reel mower is the most suitable type of mower for bermuda grass as will cut very low without damage to the grass as cutting very low with a rotary mower can. ARE gas mowers worth it? gas powered mowers are worth it if your lawn is a large lawn and don't have the time to spare but like all gas powered equipment things can go wrong and need repair and maintenance to the motor. if it would take more than an hour and a half to mow with a human powered( edit) reel mower then you might consider the powered reel mower well worth it.but is healthier to just use a non powered one with the reel mowers you must use regularly as they work best cutting the grass when is still short. and have to do that any way to get fine cut lawn.look you are after.
- i think you need a real mower
