The Grass Doctor

Do I need to plant then mulch ornamental grass seeds?

I'm really eager to plant my ornamental grass seeds. They've been in the fridge for 1-2months now and was wondering when I plant the seeds outside, do they need to be covered in mulch or is that after they have grown a few inches high? Do I need to make sure there will be no more frost at all? I'd start now because it's warmish but I'm sure it'll get cold again soon since it's only February.

  1. Grass needs light to germinate. you can lightly mulch, if you like, but not so heavy that it shades them too much. The tricky part is keeping them moist for several weeks. After they're an established patch, you can mulch the soil around the clump.
