What is the best type of grass to lay around a pool?

Traditional grass - my wife does not like. We both LOVE the look and feel of clover but heard that it attracts bees. We'd like something similar to clover - soft but yet - its around a pool area so we don't want any type that attracts bees. ALSO - any recommendation where to purchase? We live in Bay Area near a canyon - temperate climate.

1. Interesting thoughts you mention. Take a look/thought to Orchard Grass. It's very hardy and in your zone should do well. Good luck.
