The Grass Doctor

What is the name of the grass or plan that Singapore taxi drivers put in their cars as an air freshner?

Where can i get this type of grass/plant? well i must add, i live in africa, and is there a way i can buy this plant online? maybe in the form of seeds since we cant get it as a plant. Any information where i can get it from? Also, does it have another name, just in case different countries have different names for it.

  1. its called the Pandan plant, and u can get it at the wet market
  2. Pandan plant. It might smell good to some people but I want to vomit every time I smell that.
  3. Yup, its the pandan leaf. Pronounced "pun-dun", many taxi drivers believe that the leaves ward off cockroaches when in reality, the leaves of the lemon grass (and not pandan) contain a natural insect repellent. Pandan is also used to make the traditional coconut jam - you know, that green mucous-looking jam called "kaya" that is eaten with toast in Singapore. I used to have the pandan plant right next to my lemon grass plant in the garden but my dog uses it as a scratching post and killed the plant. You can get it in markets.
  4. pandan leave
