Does every residential lot have to have plants or a lawn in the US?
I've never seen a house in my city without at least a tree or lawn. Is it required to have one?

- Some Cities do have laws where the residences must have certain types of greenery / plants; this avoids dust and having the areas look like blight. Check with your local laws
- Not in general, no, but homes in planned developments are often subject to the rules of a Homeowners Association that may determine what sort of landscaping is allowed. Other than that, if your house looks really ugly because of how you've allowed the lot to get, it may be classed as a "nuisance", and you'd have to clean it up. Richard
- contact the building official in that area.they have the info your looking for.
- I don't think so unless there is a neighborhood association that states there must be. Someone in a neighboring town poured concrete in their whole front yard so they didn't have to mow. Ugly but maybe good for skateboarding. He didn't paint it green. Maybe he was fined for not mowing and decided to make sure that never happened again.
