What is the difference if I grow one type of plant (vegtables) vs. grass on my property?

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/24979774/detail.html Aren't they both plants? Why does someone need to be zoned a specific way to grow plants on their property? One makes the yard green. They other produces food. Will I need to be zoned to have a garden in my backyard?

2. I read about this also. I took it that the major beef was he had employees, making his property a business. Personally, I think they should get off his back.
3. All zoning laws are bullshit. They're promoted by corrupt businesses that don't want competition.
4. Has nothing to do with one green plant vs. another. It has everything to do with control-even the small town governments are big into controlling how everyone should live. If you grow your own food-you become independent and the government loses control.
