Do red turnips in animal crossing city folk make your grass grow back?

I was looking online for fast ways to grow my grass back and I found this thing on Youtube showing this person plant a red turnip seed, save the game, go back in (with out changing the time), and the grass was all grown back. 1. Lol. I'm not sure that they do, but a great way to have your grass grow back is to make those paths many people make. Make like a path using your design patterns and make it two squares wide and make them go to all the stores and places in your town. All though it takes a while, once your character spends 90 percent of its time running on the path and not on the grass on other spots, the other spot's grass will start to grow back. To boost the speed of the grass growing, plant flowers all over where you need grass to grow. And trees. I did this and after about a week i saw grass growing again. It takes a long time to place the patterns though. but it's worth it if your starting to hate the way your town has no grass and looks like a desert. Btw the paths you place will probably kill the grass under them if there is any, but you wont see the ground under them anyways so it doesnt matter.
