The Grass Doctor

how long does it normally take warm and cool season grass as well as weeds to die from herbicide?

and if this is done at the end of the summer..when temperatures are around 70 or below at night..is this ideal time to spray to kill a lawn for replanting? is it best to do this when not TOO hot ,,? please explain why too if you can as well as is it best to spray the bermuda or warm season grass as well or is it best to leave it? if planning on killing grass and tilling up everything? will it come back anyways even if do spray it and the ground is tilled up after? please explain what you can how to prevent weeds and unwanted things growing after tilling for the next spring? thanks for your answers!

  1. As an organic gardener I would not advise the use of herbicides on anything it causes more harm than good in the long run. It is therefore better to leave the plants alone and pull out the weeds as they grow. there is no guarantee that you will not experience weeds next season. Just till the ground well and hope for the best
  2. Old fashioned, even stone age, but if you put a black sheet of plastic over anythhing that need sun everything will die underneath within 2-3 week. I've tried it.
  3. you are doing carefully checking as am i bermuda can be killed but a long process has to have application applied in spring and repeatedly through summer on ones that come up stated could till up to get rhizomes to dry out in summer . and also stated CLEAR PLASTIC in hot summer sun can kill bermuda grass but not an easy task,
