What type of fertilizer should i use?

I going to plant grass seeds in the next few weeks, my yard is covered with weeds for the time being and im wondering what type of fertilizer should i use? What will work the best? Scott's Fertilizer, Manuer, or chicken crap? lol !!!

1. I hope you are going to get rid of the weeds first. Where you buy the grass seed they will also sell a "starter" fertilizer designed for newly planted grass seed. I have used Scott's but I am sure Vigiro and others are similar. Some grass seed already comes mixed with a fertilizer but it does cost more than buying separately. Good Luck
2. remove the weeds somehow, either by pulling them out or with a weed killer Remember to follow instructions on the weed killer in relation to planting grass seed Scott's starter fertilizer is very good to use with new seed Using a grass fertilizer/mulch works great holds moisture in and helps hide grass seed from critters it looks like blown in insulation only it's green in color
