In the UK, do many people use professional lawn care companies to fertilize and treat their lawns?

Just curious as to what people in the UK usually do to their lawns throughout the year. IS it the same as here in the US where people either pay or do it themselves to have herbicides applied to their lawn as well as fertilization treatments? how does it work out? Thanks for your answers! how many treatments, what do you use , etc?

1. None of my friends do. Although when I was younger - the local farmer would come around with his muck spreader. :-)

3. I never have but there are a number of small companies and franchises offering the service. (greenthumb being one example) I have seen the results of this service and it certainly looks good.
4. I've never heard of anybody employing a professional lawn care company. It all sounds a bit Stepford Wives. You can buy stuff that kills the weeds but nurtures the grass, though, which a lot of people use.

Only idiots or people with too much money(most of london)Apply april after rain but lawn dry.Liquid fertilizer is best and repeat every six weeks until mid sept.Fertilizer strength is important so read the back of bottle.The more you cut the more your feed.The shorter the grass the more you feed.We love our lawns in england more than our wives in summer
6. Personally I dont use a professional But this is because i am going to become a gardener :D
