best grass seed for lawns in direct sunlight 9am-6pm and best way to plant it in?

can u put the seed over existing grass that is crappy or do u have to rip up the old grass. also sum patches of grass have burnt up from scotts fertilizer

  1. Depends on where you live as the extreme high and low temps that your area receives will determine what grass you can use. Some northern grasses will die off in the summer heat if planted too far south. Likewise, some southern grasses will die off in the winters up north. I personally like Kentucky 31 Fescue grass, but it will not grow in all areas of the country.
  2. try zoysia, bermuda, or centipede. they are excellent warm season grasses bermuda is likely the only one you can grow from seed zoysia and centipede are best through sprigs
  3. The whole "key" to planting seed, is for it to have "good" contact with the soil. Remember this, "shade" seed will grow in the sun, but "sun" seed will not grow in the shade. "Rough up the soil, apply the seed, use a roller to make "good" contact, apply straw for "mulch and keep watered. No problem!!
