Why aren't my foxtail palm's branches bushy?

I have a double foxtail palm in my side yard. When the tree was small the branches were very bushy. The trees grew very fast but now the branches aren't nearly as thick and bushy. I use palm tree fertilizer as directed. Will the branches become thicker with time?
