why do people apply chemicals to their lawns on an almost weekly basis?
I have these neighbors who constantly apply some sort of chemical agent to their lawn, be it little white or blue pallets, or a liquid spray applied by some professional landscaping company. They do it almost EVERY week, and the fumes and vapors coming from their laws are excruciating. You would think these people have textbook award-winning lawns, but they don't, their grass is mostly grayish and dry, and quite frankly ugly, too much harsh chemicals maybe? Why do they do it?

- They most likely bought into a service contract that doesn't have an out clause. Show them a bit of pity.
- They think more is better. They're ignorant, and incorrect.
- These pellets you mentioned sound similar to Preen except its pellets are yellow. It is a weed killer/preventer used in flowerbeds or on lawns. Spray liquids are usually weed killers as well, or an insect repellent. Both would explain the smells (especially when applied in excessive amounts) but Id put my money on the spray being an insect repellent. Anyway, it sounds like your neighbors are going overboard with whatever they are throwing down on their grass. So yes,way too many harsh chemicals! If the smells and vapors bother you, chances are its bothering other neighbors too. Get the word out to them and maybe you can get the neighborhood to confront them about this.
