I planted my high $$$ Scotts grass seed (guaranteed to germinate in 5 days) and it hasnt sprouted yet. Its been 10 days. my question is - could the mid 40 degree weather be preventing my seeds from sprouting? There's been no frost but some 48 degree nights. I cant understand how a huge bag with 20,000 seeds can not produce even one sprout.

- Have you kept it moist and is it under at least 1/4" of fertile soil?
- You need warmth and water. The two combined with sunshine will do the trick. If you have been lacking any of those, that may be the problem.
- To germinate grass seed it needs 3 things. 1, Constant moisture (Lightly spray the seed several times a day) 2. Sun 3. Heat - Temperatures that fall below 55F at night will keep them from germinating. It won't kill the seed but it won't take till it's warm enough. Putting hay or topsoil over the seed will retain some heat.
- If you fertilized, I hope you used stater fertilizer, other wise you have killed the seed and it wont grow. If you just seeded water lightly but often, you should see growth soon.
