What type of grass could I plant that is very thin and does not require a lot of root space?

If not grass, maybe a moss.... something that appears like a thin layer of grass, like maybe the green of a golf course, but without a lot of soil needed. Maybe something that could grow almost directly on a rock surface

2. There are sod squares sold which will grow on concrete. Saw it advertised but can't give you the source.
