Please help my dog is going through a crisis and I don't know what to do!!?
2 hours after applying cheap ass flea and tick guard: My previous question was regarding my dog acting very very weird. He's been scratching the same spot over and over again. My dad bought some cheap "Sergeant's Silver Flea & Tick Squeeze-On For Dogs" I asked him to specifically buy Front Line Plus. Because it's a trusted brand of vets. But of course he buys some weird ass cheap brand. (Not sure if it's the flea and tick meds or the lawn) But now I don't know what to do. I went and talked to both my parents to help me out at take a look at him. They wont. And they both yelled at me saying I'm having an "panic attack" and to shut the hell up that I'm making a big deal out of nothing. My mom won't give me his vet's number. She slammed the door on my face. I'm the only one that cares for him in the family. LITERALLY. They don't believe me. I know my baby. I can tell something isn't right. 4 hours later: So I gave him 3 bathes with dawn soap like everyone told me to. Since then he's SCRATCHED HIMSELF SO MUCH HE'S BLEEDING. I took pictures and recorded him whining and running in circles, trying to burying himself under things and hide under the couch and bed, in stress. (Can I report my dad for not giving a shit if something serious happens?) He's completely neglecting him. I'm with him the most. THIS IS NOT NORMAL OF HIM. My parents REALLY don't give a shit. I'm not being a drama queen. They are both alcoholics. I'm 18. If they don't let me take him to the vet, which they told me they wont already. I will report them for neglect, well, can I do this? He is suffering. I put a big bandage on the spot that is bleeding the most. He just rips it off and scratches again. The others I keep rinsing off with water. He is whining and crying loudly. What do I do at this point? He won't settle? He keeps running around like crazy. Scratching. Making himself bleed more. Whining. If anyone knows of a dog hot line that answers calls, gives advice in emergency's, for FREE. (I can't afford 60 dollars per call) Please help me. Otherwise what should I do? It's freaking 2 in the morning. The vet he goes to isn't open. He's bleeding all over. God, I know I won't sleep tonight. But I don't care because I love him so much. Someone, what should I do? He's a small dog... And that makes it all the worse. Itdkid: FUCK YOU. You discust me.

- Dont listen to that idiot who told you to shoot it!!... Thats so cruel. I would recomend taking the dog to the Emergency Vet. It sounds like its either allergic to the flea meds, or something outside. Maybe try putting the dog in the tub and running really warm water all over the spots, or put Neosporin on the spots and then put the bandage on really think so he cant scratch it off. Good Luck and sorry to hear about you dog!!=(
- i was thinking pf neosporin too. and if you dont have that, maybe a little olive oil on that sport would be soothing.good luck.try to distract hiim by gently petting him and soothing him
- give him a benedryl one adult dose. He is having an allergic reaction to something, what is not important at this point, just relief. I had a small rat terrier who bit a wasp and had an allergic reaction far worse than this and gave her an adult benedryl and she slept several hours and was fine.
- you will probably have to take him to the vet in the morning if it keeps going on. dont give anymore baths it dries out there skin and can make them scratch more. they have cones you can buy to put around there neck if you have one use is to prevent him from scratching his head. if you have children benadryl in the house give him a small dose of it 8mm is what my vet told me to give to my puppy after she got her shots and was in pain. it will make him sleepy and help with the itching.
- the dog is clearly having an alergic reaction to the medication!!!! PLEASE take the dog to a vet or give him a benadryl to stop the reation. it is safe to give them this, just be very careful for his size, and as long as he isnt allergic to this to. i have given a whole one to a cocker spaniel and he was fine after. if you choose to take him to a vet there are 24 hour animal ER's for these mid-night emergancies. for the bleeding, go to walmart and buy corn starch. this will stop the bleeding for a dog's quick, im sure you could use it as well to clot the blood.
- I think "Frontline" is only available through a veterinarian. The cheap stuff is very dangerous. "ASPCA: Animal Poison Control Center" http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/ You can try applying EFT. It is taught --for free-- online: "Animal Energy Healing" - Self Help For Pet Health With 'EFT' and Meridian Therapies" http://animal-eft.org/ Did you make sure to rinse ALL the soap off? The stuff for the fleas probably was absorbed through the skin, so I don't know how much you were able to get off. Do you have any fresh Aloe vera gel? I would apply that to the dog's skin, BUT be VERY sure NOT to get any of the *yellow* stuff just under Aloe skin on the dog, as that yellos wtuff causes severe diahhrea! (Make sure it is ACTUALLY Aloe vera & not another type of Aloe, because some Aloes cause irritation.) Do you have any Spirulina or Chlorophyl or Cholorella? They help absorb toxins from within. DMSO or MSM may also be helpful, but dilute DMSO before application. MSM can be eaten, but not too much at a time. http://www.alternative-health-group.org/msm-dmso.html In the future, I recommend using natural methods: "Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth for Animals and Humans" http://www.preciouspets.org/diatomaceousearth/ Fleas,Ticks (and Heartworms too) http://www.thewholedog.org/artfleas.html Thank You for Caring about your pet! http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040222a/article_01.htm EDITED IN: When I was a kid with cats that got lots of fleas, I was provided a flea powder for them. When I put it on them, they went wild running around! I later learned that the powder agitated the fleas, making them bite even more than usual. After awhile, they calmed down, but it was not pleasant seeing them in such agony! I use the Food-Grade Diatomaceous earth now!
- Sweetie that stuff may be burning his skin as well as creating a toxic allergic reaction. If your parents are alcoholics honey, please call a relative and get help. You do need to bring the dog to the vet because depending on the reaction, well - I don't want to frighten you but this is cause for a visit. Clean the area with cool water again and then dab on Neosporin. Do you have it? It looks like this: http://www.neosporin.com/ DON'T SUBSTITUTE. Not all "human" creams can be used on dogs. ONLY Neosporin at this point. Many of those products have been recalled or have class action suits against them for these serious reactions. The cheapest place to order Frontline (that I've found) is: http://www.1800petmeds.com/Frontline+Plus-prod10459.html -- however that does not help you now. Please call someone to help you get the dog to the vet. Call a local animal hospital and play the "alcoholic parents" card. Ask them if they will take the dog "as a stray" and help him without fee. Do whatever you can. Also, right now give him ONE Benadryl pill. ORIGINAL "allergy" formula only. If he is 5 pounds or under, only give half. Do you have any?
- Actually since he's small it won't be as worse as if it was a big dog, trust me..I've been there. For now, go get a towel you don't want anymore, and clean him off as best you can, apply some anti-itch cream if you have it or neosporin to help with the itching/bleeding. Use small dabs and it should work. Next just hang on to him for a while and watch tv or a movie. Let him calm down and calm down yourself. If you freak out like this around him he will be out of control. He needs to know who is in control and let him forget about it all for just a few minutes. Have you made sure all the meds/dish soap is off of him, it sounds like it's made his skin really irritated and he needs some ointment to help relieve the itching/burning. Don't think about your parents right now, just do your best to clean him, I wouldn't use dish soap anymore, just use warm/cold water to make sure he's clean. Dry him down good/ apply some ointment, and hang on to him for a while until he rests. It's all about remaining calm and relaxing and he will feel better. Good Luck!
- I wouldn't apply much of anything else, it could just compound the problem. Try to comfort him, at this point you've done all you can. You're 18, you can take him to the vet without their permission and I would in the morning. Like I said, I wouldn't apply anything else. Make sure you rinised him off well and try not to screw with it too much, he's already doing one hell of a jump irriating it. You may want to apply some ice (same way you would yourself, wrap the ice in a towel first). I think the coolness should help Good luck. I'm sorry, I've been there before. I can't remember how many times as a teen I told my parents there was something wrong with my aussie shep. They kept blowing me off, telling me it was nothing. Then she clearly had a stroke and they just had her pts instead of doing....well anything to help her. I don't know of any place you can call for free. Everyone wants money. You could try the shelters but be prepared for someone to treat you like sh!t over it.
- Michelle.... I starred this Q to get help for you... Rinse the dog off in warm and end in cool water again, NO SOAP. In addition to the flea meds, he has Dawn soap on his skin! Pat dry and try to either put his dog clothing on, or use a tiny T-shirt to protect his fragile skin from his biting and scratching. Severe reaction to meds, possible lawn, fleas to begin with, and now, open wounds subject to infection. Do NOT give any more meds of any type until the VET prescribes them! Now, forget your parents for the moment. I know they will not help you. Since you are 18, you can legally take the dog to VET in the Morning. Text all of your friends to pool their money and meet you, since parents will not pay. Stay up with him all night if you have to. (Welcome to early Motherhood) Wrap him tight and hold him. Good that he is small, he is easy to control. Do not let him go frantic.. He needs to know you want him to be calm. Call an Emergency Vet and see how much they are if you somehow can get him there. Yes, you can report your parents, but I suggest not doing that just yet. Honestly, if they do not care about the dog at all, they may get "rid" of your baby. Stay calm and focused for the sake of your dog! You really need an adult to advocate for you! Honey, you need a counselor to help you with the issues at home. Come back on and tell us how he is.....
- At 18 yrs old you are an adult.....take responsibility & get your dog to a Vet ASAP.
- Honey, you are right, your dog needs to be seen by a medical professional. They will want to know all the products that was used on your dog. It can possibly be an allergic reaction... my dog is allergic to flea bites and does the same thing. You are 18, in some states that is legal adult age. You can try giving your dog 1 tablet of Benadryl, or if its a small dog give her half a tablet. Good luck to you and your beloved dog. Call a vet and ask them... any vet.
- You can talk to a vet right away for $15 at http://www.askavetquestion.com. It's a good service. There is a free version as well but you wouldn't get an answer right away.
