What is the best type grass to grow in a shady area in Northern Michigan?

1. just get any grass seed from lowe's that says shade..i bought some "sun&shade" generic grass seed, and I have been very happy witht the results
2. Grass seeds are all alike. You need to look at the label when buying. All bags state how much weed seed is in the bag. Fescues tend to do better in shady conditions. I would contact your local County Extension Office.
