Does the ground have to be very level, and free of rocks/sticks/twigs before we hydroseed?
We moved into a new build, and we right now have a dirt lawn...ha ha. They are going to hydroseed, but the ground is very uneven and loaded with rocks, pebbles, sticks, etc! Should we do anything to prepare the ground before hydroseeding? We live in SW Pennsylvania. Thanks!

- The more level and perfect the area to be seeded is, the better your final results will be. Grass doesn't grow on rocks, so get rid of them. rake and smooth the area to be seeded. With a little prep work, you should have better results.
- I would think the hydro-seed company would have told you if you have to do something..... The dirt has to be cleaned up a bit. It should be all dirt, nothing else. You want the seeds to penetrate the ground, not the sticks and rocks on your lawn! Sometimes it is good to aerate the lawn. This is when a machine makes little holes in your lawn. The ground will now start expanding to fill up these holes. And because of this expansion it loosens up your dirt a little bit, allowing for many good things to happen. -better water absorption. -easier for things to grow (grass seed...) -easier to dig into (if wanted to plant things, or make mulch beds...) But you should speak to the Hydro-seed company. They should have informed you about this. Hope everything turns out well.
