How much would a bag of grass seeds be?
...I need to plant grass in the yard and heard its expensive to have people spray that green stuff everywhere. Can you plant your own grass? can you buy seeds? How much am I looking at?

- 69 dollars
- Grass is fairly inexpensive, you can check the charts on seed bags for the type used in your location.
- A sack of grass seeds (depending on the size and kind) starts at around $1300. We bought a sack yesterday to fill in the patches between the weeds in an area that used to be grass years ago. Actually, I'm putting-off doing it right. Putting in a nice lawn would involve a lot more ground preparation for us and if my ground was relatively weed free, level, with good layer of garden soil, I'd buy the sod and roll it out like a carpet.
- Grass seed prices depend on the type. Bermuda is very cheap, around $40.00 for a large bag. Centipede is very expensive for even a very small bag and the seeds are so small you need to mix it with sand when putting it out. I suggest you lay sod. Your grass will look good almost instantly if you properly prepare the ground prior to laying it. You should also do a soil sample prior to planting any grass because you need the right ph and nutrients in the ground. Your soil may need to be amended. There are some grasses that usually come in sod form and it is difficult to buy seeds.
- its about $3.00 a pound
