What is the best grass seed to use near a very large tree?

1. Grass does not grow well without direct sunlight. You can try fescue or a shade grass mixture, but without several hours of direct sun you probably will not succeed in growing grass.
2. I assume your having problems getting grass to grow around a large tree. Treat the ground with lime at a rate of 40 lbs per 1000 sq. feet. That is an area about 30 sq. ft. The grass used depends where live. In our area I use Fesque seed K31.
