what is the best grass seed for starting a new lawn?
I have a back yard that gets partial sun and shade. It's a blank slate, nothing exists now but a mixture of sand, clay, and dirt

- depends on where you live.
- The worst for your conditions would be "bermuda" which requires alot of sun........ :)
- I would suggest a Dwarf Blue fescue. Its a very nice grass and does well in all environments...
- It depends on what area of the country you live in. Go to your local hardware, or home and garden store. They should be able to tell you what the best grass seed to use for your lawn.
- I have that too here in the desert. The best thing I found is Bermuda. But check with your local nursery that sells plants to find out what the best is in your area. The Bermuda grows in shade and sun but it does better in the sunny places.
- Bermuda, it is a very hearty grass and grows fast..
- Use what is called TRI-RYEit has annual and perrennial rye grass.the annual comes up fast so you have something to look at and the perrennial commes up nice later.
