1. Over time some of the value of the fertilizer diminishes, particularily the Nitrogen. It shouldn't be a problem, but you might not get the result you were hoping for.
2. As long as you watered well after you put the fertilizer on your lawn, you should be fine. If your fertilizer is REALLY old, it may not be as strong as it used to be. Then you might have to fertilize sooner than if you used "fresh" fertilizer. Good Luck!!
