How do you replant grass (with seeds) after the lawn has been damaged by moles?

The moles are gone, but you can still see mounds of soil. I have never planted grass seeds before. Any suggestions (including suggestions on specific techniques I should use) you can give will be appreciated. What kind of seeds should I use? Any tools or equipment I need to buy? The lawn is in San Francisco CA (cool summers). Thanks.

1. Plugging is the best instant answer. most local home improvement stores will be able to help. so if you're not to damaged plugs are the answer.
