How much should I pay for lawn mowing?
I'm lazy and want to pay someone to mow my yard for me. I have a friend's son who is 19 and looking for odd-jobs and I am considering asking him to do it. I would want him to mow my lawn once a week (takes about an hour with a push mower). The question becomes: how much should I pay him?

- That all depends how the mowing area is and if there is trimming sweeping, I have a 100 foot lot. And pay a person $23.00 weekly for mowing trimming and cleaning up.
- Our son gets $10, but it's a gas mower, and it's an hour's work. If the grass is already short, it could be a $5 job, especially if you're in an area of the country where the cost of living is lower.
- Well if it's a friend's son, I'd pay a little more - by push mower do you mean the old-fashioned kind without a motor, or do you mean a gas-powered mower that isn't self-propelled? If it's the motorless variety you'd have to pay him enough to make it worth his time or he'll only do it once. 20 bucks a week (including raking and cleanup) wouldn't be out of the question. Add another 5 bucks or so if you want it edged - once a month should be fine for that. If it's a power motor, 10-15 bucks.
- 10 bucks an hour. More if he has to use his own equipment.
