- You need to make sure there is loose soil for the grass seed to take root. Scratch the bare spots with a garden rake. Sprinkle your grass seed into the loosened soil. Sprinkle STARTER fertilizer (make sure it's not Weed & Feed fertilizer). You may want to put some straw mulch down. Water daily.
- I don't know if it would work but here are some better and some faster ways to get it done. Go to Home Depot or a landscaping store and get sod, grass seeds, or sprinklers. Measure the your patch Then go to the store and they will cut it for you! If you don't want to do that then take a handful of grass seeds and just drop it on the patch. It will take 4-6 weeks to be perfect. Install or buy a sprinkle to keep your grass looking green! Hope this helps!
- In my opinion, filling your dead grass patched with sod patches will the best choice. You will have an instant solution that will look great. You can purchase sod from your local home improvement store. Simply get a rough measurement of the area you need to fill and ask for assistance once you get to the store. They key to making sure your sod takes is to give it plent of water.
