Is paying a neighborhood teenager for snow shoveling or lawn mowing akin to using child labor?

This is a stupid question really.... but ...Can anyone sue me for "using child labor" if I pay neighborhood teenagers to shovel my snow or mow my lawn or run some errands? Of course, their parents would like it since the kids would be getting pocket money.

  1. No, it's not against the child labor laws.
  2. No. It only restricts the number of hours they can work if they are under 16.
  3. You can sue anybody for anything, but they would not be likely to win.
  4. Yes it is.
  5. Not just for hiring a minor to do work for you. It would be different if you placed the minor in danger by hiring them to do hazardous duties. If the minor gets hurt on your property, you could be made to pay their bills. This would normally be covered under your Home Owners insurance.
  6. Child labor is not, and has never been, illegal. Have you ever seen a child in a movie or tv show? Then WHY do you ask such stupid questions? THERE ARE RULES AND LIMITS. DUMBASS.
