The Grass Doctor

Is used motor oil a good natural lawn fertilizer?

I have about 8 gallons of used motor oil in my garage.(from oil changes) Does it really work as a natural lawn fertilizer? I saw it on the tv show sharktank. There was some Llama farmer who poured used motor oil on a dead tree and it came back to life.

  1. no
  2. NO! It will kill your grass and any other plants around after it rains. Think back about the damages from oil spills. Not good.
  3. Definitely not, but I'd like to know where you heard that.
  4. No. It will destroy your lawn.
  5. Don't listen to these guys. They've probably never tried it. Of course it works. If its good for your car it has to be good for your lawn right? Be sure to send me pictures after it sprouts!
  6. no it well kill your lawn.
  7. Ok, I'll bite. Besides the fact that you KNOW that motor oil will kill the lawn and also render the soil dead forever, you should also know that that much oil will get into the groundwater and poison all the water for miles around. Anyone who is living on a well will have poisoned water. It only takes a few ppm to be toxic. So, now that you've done your trolling, go to bed.
