what happens if you fertilize your lawn more than twice per year with one product if it says not to use more than twice per year?

  1. Sounds like you have a timed release fertilizer, one that is treated to dissolve slowly. Over fertilization results in rapid grass growth, extra water needs, more frequent mowing, and a lawn more prone to disease problems. One scenario for ignoring those instruction is if your lawn has been flooded by too many rains. If the lawn looks a little "yellow" and in need of a pick-up, try using an iron supplement. They come as a liquid your spray on or a powder applied like dry fertilizer. Just avoid getting iron on sidewalks or other surfaces as it will stain. Don't use iron during heat of day. Apply early evening if possible and water in.
  2. the lands fertility would decrease.
