What is the best way to remove weeds in a 3600 sq ft backyard so i can plant grass seeds?
Just bought a brand newly built house 1 week ago with no sod in the backyard, in just one week 3/4 of my backyard is filled with small weeds now...i was going to plant grass seeds but now I need to remove the weeds (someone tell me if this isn't necessary? I'm just assuming it is, they are pretty small weeds right now cuz they only had a week to grow, but they are weeds). So in a 3600 sq ft backyard which is huge, removing these with a shovel will take an eternity, any sugguestions on how to do this so i can hurry up and plant my grass seeds?

- You will have a much better lawn if you can get rid of the weeds first. Since they are small they likely won't be deep rooted and you could rent a rototiller, or even hire a tractor mounted tiller to work up the soil. Leave it for a week or so to allow the turned up weeds to die and dry, then smooth (harrow), plant and roll the new seeding in.
- spray back yard with round up wait about 2 weeks rent a power seeder to do back yard cover with straw and water
