Urea (CH_4N_2O) is a fertilizer and can be synthesized by the following reaction.?

2 NH_3 + CO_2+ --> CH_4N_2O + H_2O The reaction requires temperatures of 300 degrees Celsius and pressures of 200 atm. A chemist combines ammonia with carbon dioxide at high temperature and pressure. When she cheks up on her products, she is dissapointed to find that only 146.5 Kg of urea have been obtained. She calculates that she has lost 58% of the expected product. How much urea was she expecting to make? The answer is 348.8 kg of urea. How do you do it!!?

  1. If she lost 58% she has 100-58 = 42% left 146.5/0.42 = 348.8
